Britannia – Inspired by the past, designed for the future
by nikki
Once onboard I went straight to my cabin to leave my bag, I had been allocated a balcony cabin HF grade, it was beautiful, and although compact everything you could need. The bathroom was lovely and the complimentary White Collection toiletries a nice touch. Tea and Coffee are provided in your cabin. All outside cabins on Britannia have a balcony including 15 single balconies.
Although Britannia is the largest cruise ship every built for the British market with a capacity of 3647 passengers, I found it easy to get around, most passenger areas are concentrated to a few decks. Altogether 15 passenger decks, 13 bars, 13 places to eat, 3 pools, 9 places for entertainment and of course extensive shops. The pool areas were lovely and spacious and the Retreat an exclusive outdoor spa was beautiful.
Many of the restaurants onboard are inspired by famous chefs such as Marco Pierre White, James Martin, Eric Lanlard and Atul Kochar. I cant imagine you would ever get tired of eating which such wide choices. Our Gala Dinner was served in Oriental Restaurant, and although a large restaurant very cleverly designed to give an intimate feel, the food was amazing – menu designed by Marco Pierre White.
After dinner there are lots of great choices – Headliners theatre, Crystal Room, Brodies Bar, The Limelight Club, Live Lounge and the beautiful Crows Nest Bar. Drink prices are very reasonable, expect to pay similar to your local at home.
Breakfast was taken in the main buffet restaurant, Horizon – endless choice, no queues and yet again more wonderful food. Tea/Coffee and juices self service.
Disembarkation was easy and straightforward, Southampton is very accessible and with parking just opposite the Ocean Terminal it doesn’t get much more relaxed.
