My trip to Jamaica
by claire
I travelled with Sandals to Jamaica for 4 nights in May 2012.We flew from Gatwick directly to Montego Bay with Virgin Atlantic which was just short of 10 hours. We arrived at Montego Bay late afternoon and after clearing customs we set out on our transfer to our first hotel which is on the South Coast of the Island. Jamaica had recently had quite a bit of rain and the transfer was quite long as the inland village’s roads were quite flooded.
We arrived around 8.30 pm at our first hotel where we would be staying for 2 nights – Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa. The hotel reception was very welcoming as the air conditioning was very cool and we were met with cold towels and a long cocktail. After a quick check in procedure we were taken straight to the Caribbean Restaurant ‘Eleanors’ where we had a beautiful hosted dinner with the hotel manager. After the meal a quick drink and then a good sleep.
The next morning after an early breakfast we had a training session and then a resort tour of the hotel, we then had another long transfer across the island to Negril where we were visiting 2 hotels in this resort – Sandals Negril Resort & Spa and Beaches Negril Resort & Spa (their family friendly resort). We also drove past their smallest hotel – Sandals Carlyle but only viewed it from the outside. After our inspections of both the hotels it was back in the bus and transfer back down to the beautiful Sandals Whitehouse for our last nights stay. Whitehouse was my favourite hotel as the area was so spacious and the beach was absolutely stunning.
After another early start we transferred back across the island this time to Montego Bay. Here we were visiting several hotels again the first one was Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island, we watched a wedding take place on the beach whilst we were being shown around. After lunch we moved on Sandals Montego Bay for another tour, Beaches Boscobel and then finally on to Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Golf Resort which was to be our home for the last 2 nights. Unfortunately as we arrived the rain started again so we had a very wet but brief hotel inspection. We were very excited though as we had all been given our own villas with private pools for the 2 nights.
The last full day we actually had a bit of time away from multiple hotel inspections we had a quick stop at Sandals Royal Plantation – their only All Butler Suite hotel and then we travelled on to Sandals Golf & Country Club where we drove on golf buggies around the course and then quite a few of us spent a small fortune in the pro-shop.
After a lunch there it was back to Sandals Grande Riviera where we had another training session for the afternoon before we went back to get ready for our final evening in Jamaica.
Our last day we finally managed 3 hours of sunbathing on the beach before we had to check-out and return to the airport for our 9 hour direct flight home to Gatwick.
